Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails declared a number of protest steps, including returning all meals for three days in mourning of prisoner Sami Abu Diak, who died from cancer while behind Israeli bars, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).

RNA - Prisoners announced that they will all dress in black during the daily counting and to chant the name of Sami of Diak instead of their names, WAFA reported.

Tension was high throughout the Israeli prisons following the announcement that Abu Diak has died.

Abu Diak, 37, from Silat al-Dahr village in the Northern West Bank district of Jenin, died on Tuesday in the Israeli hospital Asaf Harofeh as a result of what the Commission said was “the policy of deliberate and systematic clinical killings by the (Israel) Prison Services”. He was suffering from cancer and several appeals to release him on humanitarian grounds to get proper treatment in hospital were rejected.

Palestinian Presidency and government held Israel accountable for the death of Abu Diak while in prison due to what they stated was premeditated medical negligence by the Israel Prison Services.

Dozens of Palestinian citizens sustained suffocation after Israeli forces fired teargas canisters near an illegal Israeli chemical factory, South of the occupied Northern West Bank city of Tulkarm, according to local sources.

Palestinian youths set fire to tires near the factory and attacked Israeli vehicles with stones to protest the death of Abu Diyak.
